Fishing Starbrite
Starbrite is a 77-foot steel trawler from Stonington with a crew of 2-3 plus the Operator/Captain. The fourth boat in the Empire Fisheries fleet, she is shown in the video with a big haul of Black Sea Bass and some Porgies. Dockside footage shows the speed of the unloading, icing and packing process by American Seafood, Stonington’s wholesaler, guaranteeing super fresh fish for our restaurants and retailers.
Five years ago scientists at the Northeast Fisheries Science Center’s Milford Laboratory in Connecticut documented a distinct shift in Long Island Sound fish abundance, with black sea bass showing up in increasing numbers while winter flounder declined. Today it is a sustainable seafood in New England fisheries. Full story from National Fisherman.
