Stonington Farms Shellfish
A Family-Owned Oyster Farm
Stonington Farms Shellfish is based in the Stonington side of Mystic, CT. The farm was originally founded in 1998 by Kevin and Lori Blados. When the couple decided to retire in 2017, the farm was purchased by its current owners.
Like their predecessors, the new owners are deeply committed to responsible harvest practices and hard work. The oysters are carefully handled and monitored by the team throughout their entire growth process, from seed to market, ensuring the highest quality product.
Kris, a master carpenter by trade, has spent much of his life on the water in both Connecticut and Maine. When not working on the oyster farm, he runs his kitchen and bath remodeling business, Simonds & Co.
Beth has lived her entire life in Stonington and discovered her passion for oystering by chance. After joining her sons, who worked summers for Kris, on a trip to the farm, she quickly fell in love with the work.
Dana, Beth’s best friend of 24 years, grew up in Mystic and spent her summers on the waters around Noank and Groton Long Point. After spending a summer helping out on the oyster farm, Dana was hooked.
Jake was just 13 years old when the farm was purchased and has grown alongside it ever since. Having been on the water since birth, Jake brings boundless enthusiasm to the farm. He is often found working on farm equipment or cruising the local coves in his skiff.
