Stone Acres Farm

A 260-year tradition of farming

Welcome

Dating back to 1765, Stone Acres Farm is an iconic property and former dairy farm. The farm originally consisted of approximately 225 acres and has been in continual operation since before the Revolutionary War.

In 2014, the owners — descendant family members, local investors and others dedicated to community farming — decided to revitalize the 63 acres that remained, from the fields that had gone to hay to the historic estate and buildings.

“To meet the needs of the next generation of enterprising young owners, the Stone Acres Framework Plan drew from the site’s most important historical assets, structures, and landscape zones to establish a phased revitalization of the site’s uses and facilities.” — Unknown Studio

Today, Stone Acres is dedicated to growing delicious food in a sustainable manner that is nourishing to the environment that supports it. The farming decisions are guided by a passion for the importance of flavor, adventure and variety in food, keeping in mind the wisdom of natural systems and the role they play in agriculture.

Stone Acres plays a central role in our farm-to-table culture in partnership with the 85th Day Food Community of restaurants, the Yellow FarmHouse Education Center, the many residents and visitors who drive the Community Supported Agriculture program, and everyone who attends events on the beautiful grounds and in the historic buildings.

The Farmstand

Open daily for the summer season: Monday - Friday from 10am-6pm, Saturdays and Sundays, 9am - 6pm. The Farmstand has a variety of summer greens, eggs, farm flowers, fresh veggies, honey, dairy, and local meats. Just follow signs when you arrive on campus.

Flowers and Gardens

There is nothing like fresh cut flowers to compliment your home. Many of the flowers on the farm are grown among herbs and vegetables to promote biodiversity and provide a habitat for beneficial species. Gardens are open to the public in season.
