Event and Story Submission Guidelines

This site is dedicated to all the amazing people who farm and fish, cook and pour, entertain and enlighten, educate and practice in the Stonington Region. The region includes our close neighbors in Southern Rhode Island, land farms to our north and west, sea farms on our coast and the Atlantic Ocean as far as our boats will travel.

We embrace our food heritage, and the modern methods that enhance it. We support education, the environment and the community. We promote events that involve farm/boat-to-table cuisine, food cycle education, underutilized species, food/environment education, and more.

Events

Events are acceptable if they involve the consumption, preparation or sale of regional products or underutilized species, have a positive community impact, such as using local product in a charitable fundraiser, or are hosted by or benefit a local farm or fisher. If you offer farm- or boat-fresh preparations or specials, these can qualify as events and should be posted as far ahead as practicable. Submitted events are reviewed with you for fine-tuning before being posted, so don’t worry about getting it right away.

Stories

If you're an aspiring blogger, our subscribed Stories audience of mostly Stonington area people and professionals is about 2,100 and growing. Stories are posted to this site as they come in, then are published and eBlasted to our subscribers as they accumulate. Text and virtually all media are acceptable, and your digital byline will link back to your choice of page(s).

Topics: Profiles of individuals, groups and institutions who are making a positive difference in our regional food production are welcome, as are positive restaurant and retailer reviews within our regional target area. We do not (yet!) accept recipes. In general, stories should fit our mission in the opening paragraphs above.
